Wedding Monogram Etiquette
Monograms are very popular in the wedding world! They are a great way to personalize all your wedding items. We see them on menu cards, programs, cocktail napkins, dance floors, charger clings, GoBos, cake toppers, photo booth pictures & favor accents such as stickers or icing on a cookie!
Monograms are always fun to design and there are so many different ways to make them look unique and different!
If you are thinking about using a monogram for your big day...keep in mind these 3 rules on how to create and use your monogram:
Monograms consist of 3 letters or just the single initial of the couples’ last name
If the monogram has the initial from both of your names….the bride’s first name initial should be first followed by the couples’ last name and then the groom’s first name initial.
For example: THM would be the monogram for Tina and Mike Henderson
The most appropriate use of your monogram is after you say “I Do”. Prior to “I Do”…your wedding monogram should not normally be used for save the dates, invitations or thank you notes for showers or early wedding gifts. During the ceremony yon can use it for programs, aisle runners and the guest book.
After your ceremony you are good to use your monogram all over your reception!
Here at MK we love making custom monograms, making monogrammed items for our clients and helping our clients include their monograms throughout their weddings!
